The Systems

Ketarra

Only planet orbiting around a middle size star in sector 74, Ketarra has long been a life providing platform. Carbon based life is believed to have started 8 billion years ago and has since evolved into a wide variety of species, foremost is the Ketarrans themselves.

Bipedal, bilateral symmetry, with an average height of 2 metre the Ketarrans quickly evolved, forming a tribal social structure that eventually matured into a planetwide government. Two thousand cycles ago, the Ketarrans were the most technologically advanced species in their Sector, to the point where The Guard had dispatched a specific detachment to assist their development of hyperdrive technology. The planet of Ketarra suffered a monumental seismic event that devastated much of their planet’s surface. The entire Guard was mobilized to try and save Ketarra and its people. After months of effort, the planet was stabilized and much of the population saved. But the planet itself was devastated, most of the life on the surface wiped away. This event dramatically impacted the culture of the population and turned them from a course of science to one of fantatical religion.

Since then, their technology is in ruins and they no longer look to the stars. In the last 100 cycles, the Ketarran people have begun to reconstruct their once great civilization and are now back to the point of harnessing electricity. The Guard routinely watches Ketarra, ever vigilant for another planetary catastrophe.

Detarra

Detarra is the 4th planet from its central star, supports carbon based life, and has a gravity of 1.12 standard G.  Life began on Detarra roughly 8.2 billion years ago and has evolved into a wide range of species, mainly focused around its large tropical belt. The race known as the Detarrans had a difficult rise to prominence, warring continuously with its genetic forebears in an extremely long lasting contest for dominance. At one point three races fought for the planet, one drived from bipedal mammals, one from bipedal amphibians (now the Detarrans), and one avian in origin. The Detarrans ruthlessly hunted the mammalian race to extinction, then turned their full attention to the avian Quortol, whom they eventually conquered and enslaved.

Over the last 4,700 cycles, the Detarrans have carved out a civilization from the jungle, continually creating and using technology to better protect them from the planet’s powerful, predatory wildlife.  In the last 500 years they have made significant advances in quantum technology, enough to develop hyperdrive travel and the necessary shield technology to support it. Since then they have pushed farther and farther into wider space, mining for more resources and colonizing habitable planets.

One exploratory journey brought them into sensor range of Ketarra, a planet rich with essential minerals. In search of these resoures, Detarra constructed a fleet with which to subdue the primitive Ketarrans and mine the planet.

K’Hor

K’Hor is the 3rd planet in orbit around their system’s star. It supports carbon based life at 0.98 standard g. The planet has a stable weather pattern, is largely temperate with a small equatorial band.

The K’Horians evolved from feline stock, and over millions of years developed a bipedal stance and elongated fingers. They are still covered in a light fur of varying colors and retain vestigial claws on their fingers and toes.

K’Horians have long been intensely tribal, each fighting the others for regional dominance. Eventually, their technology allowed their power to reach beyond simply region to region and the planet entered a global conflict. The two most powerful tribes, the D’Ar and the C’ron, fought for 150 years before finally being unified in a political truce, solidified by marriage. That political marriage has yielded a 100 year peace and a powerful monarchy that still reigns.

The K’Hor have an advanced civilization, but have not yet developed hyperdrive or shield technology. They have, however, mastered many other quantum effects, including cold fusion and broadcast power.

Hamor

Hamor is the second planet in their solar system. It is a densely populated planet, with a majority of the planet’s surface consisting of developed land. To maintain their massive population, the Hamorians have long since started building upwards, with towers many thousands of metre tall. Hamor has a gravity at 1.02 standard G.

The Hamorians are the most advanced civilization in their sector, having achieved hyperdrive technology nearly 200 years before. They are one of a small number of planets that conduct interplanetary commerce and have a permanent diplomatic presence on dozens of worlds, including the Guard headquarters.

Having long been a spacefaring world, they no longer use terrestrial launches. In orbit around the planet are 84 space launch/dock platforms tethered by nano-filament ribbon and serviced by elevator. A majority of their interplanetary trade is conducted on these platforms, each consisting of docking, warehousing, and living spaces.

With so few interplanetary civilizations, the space between worlds is largely ungoverned, except for Guard intervention. In response to this, the Hamorians have developed a very capable privateer industry. While some refer to them as pirates, they are free spacers and make their living off of exploration, salvage, mining rights, and other less legal pursuits.
